Jacob is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He received his PhD from Louisiana State University in December 2021. His dissertation research used oxygen isotope composition of short-lived clams recovered from late Holocene archaeological sites in Peru to reconstruct the El Niño-Southern Oscillation. His postdoctoral work consists of reconstructing paleotemperature from the oxygen isotope composition of Eocene-aged mummified wood recovered from Arctic Canada.
