PEOPLE

Brian Schubert is a Professor and Director of the School of Geosciences at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Brian received his B.S. from Lafayette College and Ph.D. from Binghamton University, followed by a postdoc at the University of Hawaii. He studies environmental change through time using stable isotope geochemistry. He has conducted fieldwork locally, as well as in the Mojave Desert, Ireland, Alaska, Arctic Canada, Norway, China, and Siberia. 
Hope Jahren is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Geosciences at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Her research focuses on the chemical links between the living and non-living earth, both in modern environments and through time, in both human and human-absent systems. Her best-known scholarship invokes stable isotope geochemistry to elucidate climate conditions from plant tissues, producing a fundamental contribution to our understanding of photosynthesis. In addition, she works to translate science for public via the popular press and major literary venues, and has produced two national and international best-selling books.
